Most Epson Receipt Printers are available with a USB interface, which is the recommended for most point of sale setups and receipt printing. For kitchen printing Ethernet is very common as it allows the printer to be setup away from the PC and/or use an extended length Ethernet cable.

The Epson Printing language or Epson Standard Code for Printers (ESC/P or ESC/P 2) is a printer control language that specifies how a printer should print, what size fonts to use, how the text is arranged, when to insert a line break, and all other aspects of a receipt.
Because this programming language is so easy to use and works so well, it has truly become the standard for programming in a receipt printer format into a POS Software. This is something that all other printer manufacturers take into account when making their own printer. If they do not have Epson printer emulation then they are most likely not compatible with the POS Software.
In most cases, when you're looking for an Epson receipt printer, you're looking for a thermal receipt printer. The 88V is the king of receipt printers. Both printers have models that work on a bevy of operating systems including Windows, Android, and iOS. Both use the same Epson Printing Language and Epson printer compatibility, and both are very highly rated receipt printers.
Epson receipt printers come in Galaxy Gray and Epson Cool White. The galaxy gray is a dark Gray that is close to black. The cool white is an off white that matches a beige color scheme. Brother printers supporting PCL and PostScript are supported. Some models using proprietary drivers (e.g. XL2HB) currently only are supported to a limited extent (e.g. BRMFC9840). Due to a non-standard driver output our page counting ability on certain low end Brother devices is impacted. This includes the HL-5470, HL-5450 and HL-2250.

The majority of inkjets produced over the last 8 years supporting ESC/P2, ESC/PAGE and ESC/PAGE-COLOR will work. On some older inkjet printer models it may not be possible to detect paper size.

Océ printers and copiers support PostScript. Some Océ drivers use a proprietary header to set document attributes such as copy count, duplex, etc., which is supported by PaperCut but subject to change by Océ. PaperCut will work with most of the Océ wide-format devices, including custom support for selected proprietary CAD printing output.
PaperCut supports most Samsung printers. Many Samsung printers (e.g. Samsung ML-2010, CLP-510) are supplied with proprietary GDI based drivers (QPDL) with no option for standard PostScript or PCL drivers. PaperCut Software has implemented support for most recent Samsung GDI printers. Model numbers and driver versions are constantly changing. PaperCut users are recommended to upgrade to the latest version and contact PaperCut support if any printers do not account as expected.

The DocuPrint and Phaser Series accommodate PCL and PostScript. Use the PostScript drivers if available. Some lower end DocuPrint systems only support PCL, in which case we recommend the PCL6 drivers. New Xerox printers using the HBPL or TIFF6 printer language drivers are also supported.
